Meerut sits at the far end of India\'s first Regional Rapid Transit System, the 82-kilometre Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor that opened fully in February 2026 and runs at speeds up to 160 km/h — cutting the trip to Delhi to under an hour. Within the city, a dedicated Meerut Metro runs along the same corridor from Meerut South to Modipuram, sharing infrastructure with the high-speed RRTS and interchanging with it at four key stations. Together they give Meerut both fast regional access to the capital and convenient local transit across the city.
