Namma Metro is the backbone of rapid transit in Bengaluru and the second-largest metro network in India. Its three operational lines connect the city's biggest commuter corridors: the Purple Line runs east-west from the IT hub of Whitefield through MG Road and Majestic out to Challaghatta; the Green Line threads north-south from Madavara down to Silk Institute; and the newest Yellow Line, opened in 2025, links RV Road to the tech belt of Electronic City. For a city famous for its traffic, the metro is often the fastest way across town.
