Kanpur Metro is one of the newest and fastest-built metro systems in the world, run by UPMRC. Its Orange Line runs from IIT Kanpur in the north — past the CSJM University and major hospitals — through Rawatpur and down into the dense city centre at Moti Jheel and Kanpur Central, dipping underground as it nears the core. For a busy industrial city long choked with traffic, it offers a fast, air-conditioned spine connecting the academic north with the commercial heart, with an extension toward Naubasta in the south on the way.
