Kochi Metro brought modern rapid transit to Kerala, and its single Blue Line runs the length of the city from Aluva in the north down to Tripunithura in the south. Run by KMRL, it threads past the commercial heart of Ernakulam — MG Road, Maharaja's College, the Vyttila transit hub — and connects directly to the Lulu Mall at Edapally and to Indian Railways stations along the way. It's also notable worldwide: Kochi Metro was the first metro to have most of its operations and station staffing run by women, through Kerala's Kudumbashree network.
